Kontera is a software-as-a-service application. It is a fully cloud-based web application, and is being hosted and developed by Kontera GmbH.
Motivation
Accounting is a important part of running a business. Often, doing the books feels like a mandatory chore instead of a valuable tool to gain insights about your own business. Many software systems, especially ERPs, treat accounting as a second-class citizen. Thus, seemingly simple tasks can become a time-consuming and frustrating experience.
We have built Kontera to automate accounting processes so you get more efficient, while at the same time making sure that your ledger can become a great tool to gain business insights vs. just being a tedious chore.
We do that by automating and fixing the most time-consuming process: your journal.
About
Kontera is a powerful pre-accounting application. It does a number of things:
- Analyzing and extracting data from documents such as receipts and invoices
- Importing credit card, bank and other financial transactions
- Reconciling your transactions with your documents
- Providing personalized suggestions to categorize transactions
- Automating processes by learning about how you work
In the end, Kontera generates journal entries out of your business transactions, managing a lot of hidden complexity for you:
- Respecting accrual or cash basis accounting
- Knowing about your tax periods and applicable tax rates
- Working within your individual chart of accounts
- Providing multiple reporting dimensions
